FireEye, Fox-IT launch free service to combat Cryptolocker ransomware

“Anything that prevents victims of Cryptolocker from paying the ransom would mean the criminals behind these attacks may abandon this method as it could become less profitable over time,” said Malwarebytes Intel Analyst Chris Boyd. “Having said that, information about the specifics of this tool are currently thin on the ground and it may not work on all forms of Ransomware.”
