HealthCare.Gov hacking incident: Industry commentary

Adam Kujawa, head of Malware Intelligence at Malwarebytes Labs, said in an email to HealthITSecurity.com that any organization should test all internet facing systems on a closed off network.

“This would ensure that the most has been done to safeguard any personal information stored on those systems. In addition, while this particular incident didn’t do anything beyond give the IT folks a headache, unsecured systems released online, while maybe not containing personal information, may provide an additional look into a secure network – allowing future attackers to understand their target a little better and focus their attacks a little more.”
