Tech support scams typically see victims coerced or tricked into handing over remote access to their PC to the scammers. Once access is gained, these remote fraudsters typically ramp-up on the scare-mongering to get victims to shell out for security products they don’t need, or even turn to outright blackmail. Even Mac and iPhone users are not spared either, according to researchers at security vendor Malwarebytes.
